What to Bring

You need a working Salvage Gyro with a Petrol Engine Cylinder fitted behind the pilot seat and Petrol in it.

Pack repair materials and a full Petrol supply before you go down: iron, copper and rubber, and aluminium as well. A crash in the shaft then means a repair and another try instead of being stranded.

After a crash, repair the engine cylinder as well as the Gyro itself.

Getting the Gyro Down Into a Silo

Update 6 changed the flight model: Channel37 says the Gyrocopter now hovers much more steadily, with better steering and vertical control.

Opinions on the new controls are split: height is much easier to hold, but the Gyro can feel sluggish and takes practice again.

Use a smaller engine cylinder than the largest: it makes the Gyro easier to control.

A controller can be easier than keyboard and mouse, because a stick gives finer input than a key that is either on or off.

Tips from before Update 6

Before Update 6, the usual way was to steer with the mouse and use W and S in short taps; A and D tilt the Gyro sideways and are easy to overdo.

Before Update 6, setting the throttle for a slow descent and leaving it there helped, because changing it also changed how the controls responded.

Without flying down

You can also climb down instead of flying: face the wall, step off and drop from one wall light to the next, carrying Gyro parts, fuel, large batteries and healing pens.

Take a second, ready-built Gyro down with you, so a crash does not end the run.

If You Crash or Get Stuck

Repair the Gyro with the materials you brought and try again; the Repair Tool guide covers how repairs work.

After a crash, building steps back out may not work: a ridge about a quarter of the way from the top can block the climb.

Flying back out is easier than getting down.
