The Last Caretaker Transfer Gate: How to Open the Lazarus Arch and Reach North Bastion
Game version: Update 6 (Early Access 0.10.0.653173); the step reports come from the public beta, October 9–18, 2026
The arch at the Lazarus Complex is a Transfer Gate. Update 6, released on October 19, 2026, switches it on: its Project Crossing quest has you restore the Gate, supply what it is missing, power included, and enter a valid destination address, and the first route leads to the frozen North Bastion region. Once it is open, Recall on the console brings you back without paying for another crossing, and vehicles can go through. In the beta the steps were: scan and build a Continuity Token, repair the platform on the roof, charge it, then pick North Bastion (address 10.15.8.19) on the console.
What the Gate is, Recall and vehicles are from Channel37's October 19 release announcement and patch notes. The scan, the North Bastion address and the power figures are confirmed on beta game screens; the other steps are not confirmed yet. Everything else Update 6 changed is on the Update 6 page.
The picture at the top shows an arched MOSES doorway from the press kit, not the Transfer Gate.
What the Transfer Gate Is
The arch at the Lazarus Complex was never decoration. It is a Transfer Gate from Project Crossing, an old gate network that links registered locations over huge distances, and its first active route joins the Lazarus Complex to North Bastion.
It is not a fast-travel button in a menu. The Gate stands in the world with its own systems, hardware and requirements, and it needs power and a destination address before it opens.
When a Gate is open, its console offers Recall, which sends you back to your starting point; the return does not cost another crossing.
Vehicles can go through an open Gate, and Channel37 says the Gyrocopter can even fly through an active one. Extreme cold on the far side affects the Gyrocopter's rotors.
North Bastion is a frozen mountain region built around one of the biggest facilities in the game. The main quest goes on there, and in deep cold the Caretaker moves more slowly and loses health.
How to Open the Gate
Not confirmed yet. The steps are from the Update 6 public beta (October 2026); the full release can differ.
Boxed lines are confirmed on game screens from the Update 6 public beta.
1. Scan the Continuity Token
From the dock where you moor your ship, go up and climb the ladder into the room above, then scan the item in that room. This is the control room one floor above the entrance elevator; the quest and its voice line only start once you walk into that room. The Oath Token from The Fourth Chamber is a different item.
Confirmed: The quest panel reads "Investigate the sealed PROJECT CROSSING room", then "Scan the Continuity Token". The token sits on a pedestal in the middle of that room, and the scan prompt says to hold the scan key.
2. Build the Continuity Token
In the beta, the build menu listed the Continuity Token as a quest item that needs 4 Quantum Crystals and 2 Wh of electricity and takes 36 seconds to make. Where Quantum Crystal comes from.
3. Repair the platform on the roof
Take the large elevator up to the roof of the Lazarus Complex and repair the platform there. In the beta, the repair panel for the Transfer Gate Terminal asked for Plastic, Carbon Fiber and Gold, plus 15 Wh of electricity.
4. Insert the token
Put the Continuity Token into the slot on the platform; it slides down until it sits flush. Where the token is and how to build it.
5. Charge the Gate
Figures differ: 1 MWh and about 200 have both been given, with advice to fill it to a million. With only 230 kWh stored, a beta console showed "Opens For 0:50", so a smaller charge seems to give a shorter window. Charging 0.56 MWh takes a little over an hour on a 500 kW supply. Power Grid Calculator.
Confirmed: The quest step reads "Provide power to the Transfer Gate" with a target of 216 kWh. The Gate stores up to 1.00 MWh, and three beta consoles measure the charge for the North Bastion address against 0.56 MWh; with 0.67 MWh stored the console reads "Ready for activation - Opens For 3:00". The Gate has also stayed open for 3 minutes on 0.56 MWh, and extra charge did not keep it open longer.
6. Find the address and activate
On the destination list, press E for Find Addresses. In the beta, the search reported two addresses in the directory, and the North Bastion Transfer Gate then appeared in the list to select before activating the Gate.
Confirmed: The console's main menu has Activate Gate, Destination and Directory. Its destination list shows Lazarus Complex Transfer Gate (10.15.1.10) and North Bastion Transfer Gate (10.15.8.19), and the quest step reads "Activate the Transfer gate using 10.15.8.19". The North Bastion address is 10.15.8.19.
7. Take your supplies through
Items you toss through the open Gate appear on the other side, and a Gyrocopter can fly through.
Before You Cross
The far side is cold enough to slow and damage the Caretaker, so plan heat before you go: the heating guide covers the Boiler, the heaters and the Methane Extractor. What waits on the other side, including the hidden Leadership module, is in the North Bastion guide.
Not confirmed yet.
Right after the crossing, the game asks you to find a heating system and to power a Methane Extractor that pulls gas up from under the ice.
Bring materials for wind turbines, because snowstorms make solar weak there, plus plenty of power, water and gas cables and at least 25 of each common resource.
The small FLO TH-5 heater can be warmed at a steam outlet and carried on your back as a warm zone for a while. The Gyrocopter may not take off in the cold unless that heater is warm.
Can You Sail to North Bastion Instead?
Not confirmed yet.
North Bastion lies about 100 km north on the map. Sailing there in the beta, snow and cold damage started about 45 km out, and an ice sheet stopped boats roughly 33 to 37 km short. The rest of the ice can be crossed on a jet ski.
Transfer Gate FAQ
What is the arch at the Lazarus Complex?
It is a Transfer Gate, part of an old gate network called Project Crossing. Update 6, released on October 19, 2026, switches it on, and its first route leads to North Bastion.
How do you open the Transfer Gate?
Play the Project Crossing quest that starts in Update 6: restore the Gate, give it what it is missing, power included, and enter a valid destination address. The first address leads to North Bastion.
Can you come back from North Bastion?
Yes. Once a Gate is open, its console has a Recall option that sends you back to your starting point, and the return does not cost another crossing.
Can you take vehicles through the Transfer Gate?
Yes. Vehicles can go through an open Gate, and Channel37 says the Gyrocopter can even fly through an active one.
What is the North Bastion Transfer Gate address?
10.15.8.19. In the Update 6 beta, the Gate console lists North Bastion Transfer Gate (10.15.8.19) next to Lazarus Complex Transfer Gate (10.15.1.10), and the quest step reads "Activate the Transfer gate using 10.15.8.19".
How much power does the Transfer Gate need?
In the Update 6 beta, the quest asks you to put 216 kWh into the Gate, and the Gate stores up to 1.00 MWh. A 0.56 MWh charge opens it to North Bastion for the full 3 minutes; extra charge does not keep it open longer.
