Quests

Omega Nursery Quest: Sharks, Bays & the Locked Tower

Omega Nursery is at Platform Omega, at map coordinates 90, 6, about 2 km east of Lazarus Complex. Kill and bring in 4 Ram Sharks for Bay 1, 2 Talon Sharks for Bay 2 and 1 Talon Shark - Dorsal Model for Bay 3, then open the tower door above each bay and go inside.

Door still red? Save, then load that save. The door often turns green only after a reload, sometimes after each bay.

Game version: Update 6 for the bays and tower rooms; Update 5.5 for the official fixes. Tips that are not confirmed yet are marked.

Omega Nursery Tracker

Count the sharks as you bring them in and tick each tower once you are inside. Your progress stays in this browser.

  1. Bay 1: 4 Ram Sharks

    0 / 4

The small, fast shark covered in scratches, usually in packs of 2 to 4. The game also calls it the ship shark. Ram Sharks guard Platform Omega itself, so Bay 1 needs the least towing.

  2. Bay 2: 2 Talon Sharks

    0 / 2

The armored shark whose four dorsal fins glow bright yellow.

  3. Bay 3: 1 Talon Shark - Dorsal Model

    0 / 1

A larger Talon Shark with orange fins. Its heat laser stays hidden in its back until it attacks; it is also called the Laser Shark.

Ram Sharks

The post-Update 5.5 objective screenshot uses Ram Sharks. The older Early Access 0.7.2 screenshot calls them Talon Shipsharks.

Talon Sharks

The armored shark whose four dorsal fins glow bright yellow.

Use the shark type shown for this bay in the task objectives.

Talon Shark - Dorsal Model

A larger Talon Shark with orange fins. Its heat laser stays hidden in its back until it attacks; it is also called the Laser Shark.

The older name in Bay 1 is a version difference; the counts have not changed.

Deliver the required sharks to the three bays, then enter the locked tower. Powering the navigation beacon on top of Lazarus Complex reveals Platform Omega on your map.

Sample No. 126, Talon Shark ID-407, is also at Platform Omega. See how samples work. For shark weak spots and boat combat, see the shark combat guide.

How to Get the Sharks Into the Bays

  1. Kill them. Kill the sharks first. The bays take carcasses, and dead sharks dragged into the right bay count.
  2. Leave them floating in the bay. A shark only has to be inside the bay. You do not need to moor it to the bay wall; a carcass tied there can come loose, and a moored shark may not count until it is released.
  3. Tow slowly. To tow a carcass, run a mooring line from your boat to the mooring port on the shark's head. Lines often snap or come loose under tow, so go slowly and look back often.
  4. Beware the laser. The Dorsal Model keeps its distance and fires a heat laser of 15 damage per second. Aimed at you, the beam often hits your boat as well.

Other ways to try

  • Not confirmed yetElectric power only. Tow on electric power only, with the diesel engine off, at low speed, so the line holds.

  • Not confirmed yetLure them in. Skip the towing: shoot a shark from the jet ski so it chases you into the bay, then kill it there.

  • Not confirmed yetMind the current. The current pushes everything to the end of the pens with the sea mines. Come and go through the other end and keep the gates shut so carcasses stay in.

  • Not confirmed yetUse the gyrocopter. A gyrocopter can carry the line instead: one line to the boat, one to the shark. It has no speed limit, but the copter takes damage and can be pulled into rough water.

More on the jet ski and the gyrocopter.

What to Try When Progress Is Stuck

If a tower door stays red with the right sharks in its bay, work down this list.

  1. Look for an extra shark. Check that each bay holds the right shark type, with no extra or live shark hiding at the bottom. Kill or remove anything that should not be there.

  2. Save and reload. Save, then load that save. The door often turns green only after a reload, sometimes after each bay.

  3. Open the door yourself. Walk up and open the tower door: the quest step only completes once you go inside.

  4. Not confirmed yetBoat out, gates shut. Take your boat out of the bay and close both gates before you check the door.

  5. Not confirmed yetRestart the game. If a reload is not enough, quit the game completely and start it again, or verify the game files in Steam.

  6. Not confirmed yetClear nearby small enemies. One suggested check is to clear the small enemies near the bays.

  7. Not confirmed yetCheck facility power. Power the facility before opening the gates.

For general cable planning, see the Power Grid Calculator. This guide has no verified facility power requirement to enter into it.

Update 5.5: Official Fixes

Update 5.5 fixed Omega Nursery quest-trigger problems and a bug that lost completion status after leaving the location.

These are official patch notes. They do not confirm that the workarounds above are required.

Where the Workarounds Differ

Not confirmed yet. Neither view is confirmed as a universal quest rule.

Alive or dead?

  • Live sharks count too, as long as they are inside the bay.
  • In other cases the door only opened once a live shark in the bay was killed.

Killing every shark before it goes in avoids the question.

What Is Behind Each Tower Door

Behind each tower door is a room of memories, the items used to grow humans. The doors open with sharks, not a code: each tower above a bay unlocks once that bay holds its sharks.

Tower 1

Not confirmed yet

  • Music Notes
  • Small Human Art
  • Where's Tommy
  • Stopwatch
  • Empty Human Seed Container

Tower 2

Tower 3

  • Keys to Imagination
  • Aged Lazarus Seed Container

Below the Platform: Project Jonah and the Fourth Pen

The locked rooms below Platform Omega hold the Project Jonah control room. Put a growth pod with a fully grown human into its socket to call the whale; a Human Seed is not enough. The steps are in the Project Jonah quest entry; to grow the human first, see the human recipes.

  • Not confirmed yetGetting the pod down. The way down is a shaft in front of Tower 4. Getting the pod down the ladders is hard; a gyrocopter can drop it onto the walkway.

  • Not confirmed yetThe fourth pen. Omega Nursery itself uses only Bays 1 to 3. Keep the whale out of the fourth pen: it may get stuck there.

  • Not confirmed yetOlder saves. Before Update 5.0 (June 24, 2026), the doors under the nursery did not open at all.
