The Last Caretaker Electric Pistol: How to Unlock, Charge and Use It
Short answer: The Electric Pistol unlocks at Tier 3 and takes no ammo. Hold it, press F to pull out its cable and plug it into a power source, or into yourself, until the display on the back reads 100. It does not fire underwater.

How do you unlock the Electric Pistol?
Unlock it at Tier 3 in the Skills menu, then craft it.

What do you need to craft it?
The wiki lists 1 Battery Cell, 1 Alloy Frame, 1 Connector Ports and 1 Conduit Wiring, with 5 Wh of electricity to craft it. We have not seen the crafting screen yet.

Charging and Ammo
Does the Electric Pistol use ammo?
It uses no ammunition. Electric weapons store electricity instead: hold the pistol, press F to pull out its cable and connect it to a power source, such as a deck supply or a powered backpack. The display on the back shows the charge from 000 to 100.

Can you charge it without a generator?
You can also charge it from your own battery: look down, press F to attach the cable to the pistol, then E to connect it to yourself. Q reels the cable back in.

Does it work underwater?
It does not fire underwater: electric weapons use stored electricity and stop working below the surface. Take a Bolt weapon for diving.

Using It, and the Electric Rifle
How do you fire it?
Hold the left mouse button to fire a short cone of lightning. The wiki notes the range is short but enough against early enemies, and lists it as a 10 kg common item.

Is the Electric Rifle better?
The Electric Rifle unlocks later, at Tier 14, and charges the same way.
Hold the Electric Rifle shot to charge it, then release. A fully charged shot delivers greater damage.
